What’s the difference between the Standard Savings and a High-Yield Savings from other financial institutions?
While some online banks focus on high-rate savings accounts, 3Rivers offers a variety of options to support your savings goals. Our Standard Savings account is a great place to keep money separate from everyday spending and works best for short-term needs. For long-term or higher-yield savings, Money Market and Share Certificate accounts can help you earn more through higher balances or locked-in rates. And whenever you’re ready, a friendly 3Rivers representative is happy to help you plan your next savings goal.
How is 3Rivers different from Chase or Bank of America?
We're member-owned, so profits return to you through better rates and lower fees instead of going to shareholders. We know you personally and invest in your community. Customer service matters more to us than just rates.
How does Standard Savings compare to Money Market?
Standard Savings is simpler and more flexible—no minimum balance maintenance required. Money Market accounts typically need $5,000+ minimums and charge fees if balances drop below minimums.
Can I access my money anytime I need it?
Absolutely. Your Standard Savings account offers complete flexibility and no withdrawal penalties. Withdraw through ATM (35,000+ surcharge-free locations), online banking, mobile app, teller, or transfer anytime.
When do I earn dividends?
Dividends are calculated daily on your account balance and compounded monthly. On the last business day of each month, your earned dividends automatically deposit into your account for spending or saving.
What is the monthly maintenance fee?
The monthly maintenance fee is $5. However, this fee is waived if you meet just ONE simple condition: receive eStatements, maintain a $500 balance, have a combined relationship of $2,500+.
How much money do I need to open an account?
You only need a $5 minimum balance to open a Standard Savings account—one of the lowest requirements around. After opening, your account can maintain any balance while earning dividends.
Is my money safe at a credit union?
Yes. 3Rivers deposits are federally insured by the NCUA up to $250,000 per account type. Plus, as member-owned, we're governed by member representatives, so decisions prioritize member benefit over profit.
